A very professional set up and we received a very prompt appointment at our home. Kashif explained everything about setting up a Living Trust which he said would benefit us and advised us to begin the process immediately. The cost was over £7000. He asked for 50% straight away. I was not comfortable with this and said we would consider it further. We have since been advised by another company that a Living Trust is definitely not the right thing for us and would not be cost effective.

Our reply
Diane, payment falls due when someone instructs us, not at the meeting itself, and nobody is expected to hand anything over on the day. Reading your account, that distinction was clearly not put across as well as it should have been, which I regret. Nothing was taken from you, and the consultation carries no charge either way.
What another firm has told you I cannot speak to, since we were not party to that conversation. What I can do is set out in writing the thinking behind what was put to you, in plain terms, so you can see why that particular recommendation was made rather than some other. Equally, if you were given written advice elsewhere, send it across and I will go through it with you just as readily.
I hope you have found the solution you are seeking, and we would be pleased to assist further if you have not. What we were aiming at was protecting your beneficiaries from the risk of probate delays, and those are worsening rather than easing: Ministry of Justice data puts one estate in eight beyond six months in 2024/25, against guidance of sixteen weeks. Our own professional body sets the position out at https://www.ipw.org.uk/blog/probate-delays-on-the-rise.aspx. Where a delay of that order would fall on your family, the price reads very differently against what it spares them.
My line is 01743 387210 should you wish to pick any of this up.
